Healing May not be so much about Getting Better, as about Letting Go of everything that isnt you- All of the Expectations, All of the Beliefs-And Becoming who you are.

– Rachel Naomi Remen

The whole practice is based on Regional Interdependence- A Whole Body Approach, treating mind, body and spirit. Finding the root cause of the pain, not just focusing on the symptoms and then focus on learning new functional patterns, thereby eyeing for functional independence.

Physiotherapy approach is a blend John Barnes Myofascial Release Approach and Selective Functional Movement Assessment. We do not use Electrotherapy Modalities. Massage Therapy Practice is a Blend of John Barnes Myofascial Release Approach and application of Deep Tissue Swedish Massage. We strongly believe in education clients about self treatment, prevention and encourage to be an active participant in their healing process and not just rely on passive manual therapy techniques.

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which our therapists use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness.

Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

Standardized Movement Based Diagnostic Screening, Testing, Assessment and Rehab System used generally by Professional Sports teams. Selective Functional Movement Assessment or SFMA helps to identify movement dysfunction which can be a result of pain.

It is based upon the concept that seemingly unrelated impairments in a remote anatomical region may contribute or associated with the client’s primary complaint. It gives us a baseline information whether the issue is mobility, stability or motor control dysfunction.

Based on assessment, appropriate interventions in the form of mobility exercises or stability/motor control reloading exercises are discussed.

I am in pain, I do not know whether I should choose Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy session?

There is an overlap of techniques and methods in our physiotherapy and massage therapy approach. So, the determination of pathway, whether to choose physiotherapy or massage therapy is best to be discussed with the therapist, when booking a treatment session. If you are booking online, you can always call us if you are not sure or arrive early for your first appointment and discuss before beginning the session.

What to expect in your first Physiotherapy session?

You are adviced to bring shorts and tank top/sports bra, if applicable. Your first session is a 60 minute or 45 minute assessment session where we do an in-depth postural evaluation as well as check movement patterns to determine the root cause of the pain or challenges. We, then discuss it with you to determine goals and help you reach them. The consequent sessions will be either 60 minutes, 45 minutes or 30 minutes.

What to expect in your first Massage Therapy session?

You are adviced to bring shorts and tank top/sports bra, if applicable. You can choose 60 minute, 45 minute or 30 minute sessions. We do an in-depth postural evaluation to determine the root cause of the pain or challenges. We do not assess movement patterns in detail as it comes under physiotherapy umbrella as a more focused tool. If you wish, you can also request to have Deep Tissue Massage rather than having a Myofascial Release treatment approach. This is something, you need to discuss with your therapist.
